CSI Academic Partner Nominated For Green Gown Award

Monday, October 20, 2014

Now in their 10th year, the Green Gown Awards provide universities, colleges and the learning and skills sector with benchmarks for excellence and are well respected by governments, funding councils, senior managers, academics and students alike. The Geen Gown Awards have become established as one of the most prestigious recognition of best practice within the tertiary education sector.

Stage one applications for the Green Gown Awards closed in June and a judging panel, consisting of over 80 representatives from the diversity of the tertiary education sector and experts in various fields provided a shortlist of entrants – the Finalists. UWE was selected as a finalist for the CIPS Sustainability Index in the Research and Development category and submitted their Stage 2 applications in September. The winners of the Green Gown Awards 2014 will be announced at the Green Gown Awards Ceremony to be held at Whitworth Hall, the University of Manchester on Monday 3rd November.

Professor Andrew Douglas the academic lead for the CSI said “We are delighted to have been selected as a finalist for this award which is recognition for the whole CIPS, UWE & PRGX team that are delivering this groundbreaking initiative. As procurement is continuing to play an increasingly important role in the area of supply chain sustainability measurement and management, CSI has become a new ‘tool in their toolbox’ to address sustainability challenges through collaboration, leadership and compliance. Accordingly, selection as a finalist, combined with the market interest and high volume of early adopters re-confirms the value this new Index brings to both buyers and suppliers”.
